My relationship with BMW motorcycles began relatively late compared with some of the Japanese marques, but they would go on to become some of the most significant motorcycles I have ever owned. The silver BMW R1150GS Adventure opened the door to long-distance travel and eventually led to fifteen weeks touring Europe. Years later, after trying a variety of other machines, I returned to the marque with a second R1150GS Adventure, the distinctive Bumble Bee.
