2025 – A Summer of Fun
Not every memorable year involves crossing continents, sleeping in ditches or disappearing into the wilderness for weeks at a time.
Sometimes the best years are simply about enjoying motorcycles, meeting friends and making the most of the opportunities that come your way.
After many years of long-distance travel and ambitious adventures, 2025 was different. The focus shifted away from ticking countries off a map and towards enjoying the simple pleasures of motorcycling. There were day rides, weekends away, motorcycle events, conversations over coffee and the chance to spend time with old friends and make a few new ones along the way.
The year also provided an opportunity to reflect on where motorcycling had taken me over the decades. From a teenager on a small Suzuki to a lifetime spent exploring Britain and Europe on two wheels, the motorcycles may have changed but the reasons for riding remained remarkably consistent. Curiosity, freedom and the simple pleasure of seeing what lies around the next bend.
There were still roads to discover, photographs to take and stories to collect. Some were close to home, others required a little more planning, but all served as a reminder that adventure does not have to involve crossing borders or covering huge distances. Sometimes adventure is simply saying yes to an invitation, turning down an unfamiliar road or setting off with no particular destination in mind.
As the months passed it became clear that 2025 was shaping up to be exactly what it promised to be: a summer of fun. Not necessarily the most ambitious year of riding, nor the most demanding, but perhaps one of the most enjoyable.
